Julian Dennison, the 12-year-old star of the hit movie “Deadpool 2”, is not your average child actor. Despite his young age, he has already experienced the highs and lows of fame and has a refreshingly mature outlook on it all.
In a recent interview with The Age, Dennison opened up about his journey as a child star and how he deals with the pressures that come with it. “It’s okay if I feel stressed,” he said. “I’m a 12-year-old boy, and I’m still learning how to handle everything.”
Dennison’s rise to fame began with his breakout role in the 2016 film “Hunt for the Wilderpeople”, directed by Taika Waititi. The New Zealand native was just 13 years old when he auditioned for the role, and he never expected it to lead to such success. “I was just a kid from the suburbs, and suddenly I was in this big movie,” he recalled.
But with fame came a lot of attention and pressure. Dennison found himself in the spotlight, with people constantly watching and judging his every move. “It was overwhelming at times,” he admitted. “I had to learn how to navigate through it all.”
One of the biggest challenges for Dennison was dealing with the criticism and negative comments that came with his newfound fame. “People can be really mean, especially online,” he said. “But I’ve learned to not take it personally and focus on the positive instead.”
Despite the challenges, Dennison remains grateful for the opportunities that have come his way. “I’ve been able to travel the world and meet amazing people,” he said. “I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
But he also recognizes the importance of staying grounded and having a support system. “My family and friends keep me grounded and remind me that I’m just a normal kid,” he shared. “They’re always there for me, no matter what.”
Dennison’s down-to-earth attitude and positive outlook have also helped him handle the pressure of being a role model for young fans. “It’s a big responsibility, but I try to be a good example and stay true to myself,” he said.
As for his future in the entertainment industry, Dennison is taking it one step at a time. “I’m just enjoying the ride and seeing where it takes me,” he said. “But no matter what, I’ll always remember to have fun and not take things too seriously.”
At just 12 years old, Julian Dennison has already accomplished so much and has a bright future ahead of him. But he remains humble and wise beyond his years, proving that age is just a number when it comes to handling fame and success.
