NRPS Investigating Serious Three Vehicle Collision on Ridgeway Rd. – Fort Erie

On January 21, 2024, at 4:03pm emergency services personnel were called for a report of a serious collision involving three vehicles in Fort Erie.

5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics, and Fort Erie Fire Service personnel attended to the scene on Ridgeway Road near Lynwood Lane.  A grey Toyota Corolla and a Ford Mustang collided head on. The male driver of the Toyota, a 54-year-old man from Niagara Falls suffered life threatening injuries and was transported from the scene in critical condition to a local hospital. He was later flown by Ornge Air Ambulance to an out of region hospital. The driver of the Ford, a 49-year-old man from Oakville was transported from the scene to a local hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The initial investigation determined the Toyota had been traveling south bound at a high rate of speed on Ridgeway Road. It collided with the Ford and then into a parked, un-occupied Acura TL.

Detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit (RECON) have been assigned to the investigation. Detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit are also assisting in the investigation. The investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives determine the circumstances leading up to the collision.

Ridgeway Road between Fernwood Lane and Graeber Avenue have been closed for the investigation.
