Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 3 District (Welland/Pelham) detectives are investigating a violent robbery that occurred in Pelham during the early morning hours of March 1, 2024.
On March 1, 2024, at 2:33am 3 District uniform officers responded to the Shoppers Drug Mart on Highway 20 in Pelham. Officers met with two male victims who had been in the store conducting overnight cleaning. One of the male victims was not injured. The second male victim was suffering from serious but nonlife threatening injuries. Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics attended the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
The initial investigation determined that two unknown masked male suspects had caused damage and forced their way into the store. Once inside the suspects confronted the victims. The injured victim was physically assaulted. The suspects then smashed cabinets using a hammer, stole perfume, and fled from the store.
An NRPS K9 Unit attended the scene however was not able to locate the suspects.
