Two young men are fighting for their lives after a vehicle crashed into a tree in Montreal, according to police.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening in the borough of Saint-Laurent. Montreal police received a call about a car that had crashed into a tree on Côte-Vertu Boulevard near Cavendish Boulevard.
When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found two young men, both in their early twenties, trapped inside the vehicle. The driver was unconscious and the passenger was conscious but in critical condition.
Firefighters had to use specialized equipment to extract the two men from the vehicle. They were then transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
According to Montreal police spokesperson Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the tree. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Brabant also stated that speed may have been a factor in the crash, as the vehicle was heavily damaged.
The incident caused a section of Côte-Vertu Boulevard to be closed for several hours while police investigated the scene. The road has since been reopened.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward with any information. They are also reminding drivers to always obey the speed limit and to drive safely.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of following traffic laws. The lives of these two young men were put at risk due to the driver’s actions, and it is fortunate that no one else was injured in the crash.
It is also a reminder to always wear a seatbelt while driving, as it can greatly reduce the risk of serious injury in the event of an accident.
Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the two young men as they fight for their lives. We hope for their full recovery and urge everyone to drive responsibly to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
