An elderly woman was left with serious injuries after being struck by a driver in Toronto’s west end, according to paramedics.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at the intersection of Bloor Street West and Lansdowne Avenue. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2:30 p.m.
According to Toronto Paramedic Services spokesperson Kim McKinnon, the woman, believed to be in her 80s, was crossing the street when she was hit by a vehicle. She was rushed to a trauma centre with serious injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. It is unclear at this time if any charges will be laid.
The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the incident. It has since reopened.
