Atletico Ottawa could be the ultimate hat-trick for Hunt
As the Canadian Premier League (CPL) prepares for its third season, one player has his sights set on a remarkable achievement – winning the league title with three different teams.
Malyk Hamilton Hunt, a 26-year-old midfielder, has already lifted the trophy with two different clubs – Forge FC in 2019 and Cavalry FC in 2020. Now, he is determined to add Atletico Ottawa to that list.
Hunt joined Atletico Ottawa in January 2021, after spending the previous season with Cavalry FC. Despite being a newcomer to the team, he has already made a strong impression on his teammates and coaches.
Head coach Mista has praised Hunt’s leadership qualities and his ability to adapt to different playing styles. “He’s a player that can play in different positions, he’s a player that can help the team in different ways,” Mista said in an interview with CanPL.ca.
Hunt’s versatility and experience have been valuable assets for Atletico Ottawa, who are looking to improve on their debut season in the CPL. In 2020, the team finished in seventh place, but with the addition of players like Hunt, they are aiming for a higher position this year.
For Hunt, winning the league title with Atletico Ottawa would be the ultimate hat-trick. “It would be a great achievement for me personally, but also for the club,” he said in an interview with the Ottawa Sun.
Hunt’s journey to the CPL began in 2019 when he was drafted by Forge FC in the inaugural CPL draft. He quickly established himself as a key player for the team, helping them win the league title in their first season.
In 2020, Hunt made the move to Cavalry FC, where he continued to impress with his performances on the field. He played a crucial role in helping the team reach the CPL Finals, where they were eventually defeated by Forge FC.
Now, with Atletico Ottawa, Hunt is determined to add another league title to his resume. “I’m always looking to improve and help the team in any way I can,” he said.
As the CPL season approaches, all eyes will be on Hunt and Atletico Ottawa, as they aim to make history and secure the ultimate hat-trick. With his experience, leadership, and determination, Hunt could be the missing piece that leads Atletico Ottawa to their first league title.
