A man in Toronto pulled out a gun during a meetup with a Facebook Marketplace seller and stole their phone, according to police.
The incident occurred on Monday evening in the area of Yonge and Dundas streets. The victim had arranged to meet the suspect to sell their phone through the popular online marketplace.
However, upon meeting, the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded the victim’s phone. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene with the stolen device.
Police were called to the scene and immediately began their investigation. They were able to track down the suspect and make an arrest.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old John Smith, has been charged with robbery with a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
