Two people have tragically lost their lives in a single-vehicle rollover in Durham Region.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Sunday evening on Highway 401 near Brock Road. The vehicle, which was traveling eastbound, lost control and rolled over multiple times before coming to a stop in the ditch.
Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, but unfortunately, both occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but it is believed that speed may have been a factor. The highway was temporarily closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
