Winnipeg Police Investigating Shooting Death

The Winnipeg Police Service is currently investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of an individual.

According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday evening in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue. Officers were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. after reports of shots being fired.

Upon arrival, they found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The identity of the victim has not been released at this time, pending notification of next of kin.

The WPS Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and is asking anyone with information to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity.

This is the second shooting death in Winnipeg this year, following the death of a 14-year-old boy in January.

Police are reminding the public that any information, no matter how small, could be crucial in solving this case and bringing justice to the victim and their loved ones.
