Full circle: Calgary's Paul Gross to be part of Alberta Theatre Projects 50th anniversary season

Calgary’s very own Paul Gross is set to make a triumphant return to the stage as part of Alberta Theatre Projects’ 50th anniversary season. The renowned actor, writer, and director will be joining the lineup of talented performers for the milestone season, marking a full circle moment for Gross who began his acting career with the theatre company in the 1980s.

Gross, who is best known for his roles in hit TV shows such as “Due South” and “Slings and Arrows”, got his start in the theatre world with Alberta Theatre Projects. He performed in several productions with the company, including “The Drowsy Chaperone” and “The Crucible”, before transitioning to film and television.

Now, after decades of success in the entertainment industry, Gross is excited to return to his roots and be a part of the 50th anniversary season. In an interview with CTV News, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “It’s a real honour to be invited back to where it all began for me. I have such fond memories of my time with Alberta Theatre Projects and I’m thrilled to be a part of this special season.”

Gross will be starring in the world premiere of “The Louder We Get”, a musical based on the true story of a high school student’s fight for equality and acceptance. The production will run from April 21 to May 9, 2020, at the Martha Cohen Theatre.

Artistic Director Darcy Evans is thrilled to have Gross on board for the anniversary season, stating, “Paul is an incredibly talented and versatile performer, and we are honoured to have him join us for this milestone season. His return to Alberta Theatre Projects is a testament to the strong relationships we have built with artists over the years.”

The 50th anniversary season will also feature other exciting productions, including “The New Canadian Curling Club” and “The Wedding Party”. With a lineup of diverse and thought-provoking shows, Alberta Theatre Projects is set to celebrate its rich history while looking towards a bright future.
