Man arrested after large seizure of illicit, prescription drugs in Prince George: RCMP

A man has been arrested in Prince George, British Columbia after a significant seizure of illicit prescription drugs, according to the RCMP.

The arrest was made on March 2, 2021, after a search warrant was executed at a residence in the city’s downtown area. The Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit, with the assistance of the North District Emergency Response Team, conducted the search.

During the search, officers discovered a large quantity of prescription drugs, including fentanyl, oxycodone, and morphine. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $20,000.

The 35-year-old man, who has not been named, was taken into custody and is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 28, 2021.

The RCMP is reminding the public of the dangers of illicit drugs, particularly those containing fentanyl. The powerful opioid has been responsible for numerous overdose deaths in British Columbia and across Canada.

The RCMP is also urging anyone with information about drug trafficking in their community to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers. Tips can be provided anonymously, and any information could help prevent further harm to individuals and communities.
