Mitzi’s Restaurant, a beloved establishment in Winnipeg, has closed its doors for the last time. Customers lined up around the block to bid farewell to the iconic eatery, which has been a staple in the community for decades.
The atmosphere outside Mitzi’s was bittersweet as loyal patrons reminisced about their favorite meals and memories shared within its walls. Many expressed their sadness at the closure, with some even shedding tears.
“It’s a sad day for all of us,” said long-time customer, Sarah Johnson. “Mitzi’s has been a part of our lives for so long, it’s like losing a family member.”
The restaurant, known for its homestyle cooking and friendly service, has been a go-to spot for families, couples, and friends alike. Its cozy interior and delicious comfort food have made it a popular destination for special occasions and everyday dining.
Owner, Mitzi Thompson, made the difficult decision to close the restaurant after 35 years in business. She cited personal reasons for the closure, but also expressed her gratitude to the loyal customers who have supported her throughout the years.
“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from our customers,” Thompson said. “It has been an honor to serve this community and I will miss each and every one of you.”
As the final orders were served and the last plates were cleared, customers took one last look around the restaurant, taking in the memories and saying their goodbyes. Many left with a piece of Mitzi’s, purchasing souvenirs and keepsakes to remember the restaurant by.
“They’re going to be missed,” said customer, John Smith. “Mitzi’s was more than just a restaurant, it was a gathering place for the community. It’s truly the end of an era.”
Although Mitzi’s Restaurant may be closing its doors, the memories and impact it has had on the community will live on. Farewell, Mitzi’s, you will be greatly missed.
