Winnipeg Police are currently on the hunt for a suspect in connection to a recent homicide.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday evening in the city’s North End. Police were called to the scene on Selkirk Avenue and Salter Street around 7:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Dwayne Lavallee of Winnipeg.
Investigators have determined that the shooting was not a random act and are now searching for a suspect. The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Michael James Guimond, who is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Police have released a photo of Guimond and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating him. They are urging anyone who sees him to not approach him and to instead call 911 immediately.
Guimond is described as 5’10” tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo of a cross on his left cheek and a tattoo of a crown on his right cheek.
