Residents of Pointe-Saint-Charles are feeling frustrated as they continue to deal with ongoing construction that has been dragging on for years.
The construction, which began in 2017, was initially supposed to be completed by 2019. However, due to various delays and setbacks, it has now been extended until 2022.
According to residents, the construction has caused numerous inconveniences and disruptions to their daily lives. Road closures, noise pollution, and limited access to public transportation have all been major concerns for the community.
One resident, Marie-Claire Tremblay, expressed her frustration, stating, “It’s been a nightmare. The noise from the construction starts early in the morning and goes on all day. It’s impossible to get around the neighborhood without encountering road closures and detours.”
Another resident, Jean-Pierre Leblanc, shared similar sentiments, saying, “The construction has made it difficult for me to get to work on time. I have to leave earlier than usual just to account for the delays caused by the road closures.”
The construction project, which includes the installation of new water and sewage pipes, as well as the repaving of roads, is being carried out by the City of Montreal. The city has acknowledged the delays and has attributed them to unforeseen issues and complications.
In response to the frustrations of residents, the city has promised to work towards minimizing the disruptions and completing the project as soon as possible.
Despite the inconveniences, some residents understand the importance of the construction and the long-term benefits it will bring to the community. However, they are hopeful that the city will take their concerns into consideration and work towards completing the project efficiently.
In the meantime, residents of Pointe-Saint-Charles will have to continue to deal with the ongoing construction and its effects on their daily lives. They remain optimistic that the end result will be worth the wait and the inconvenience.
