A man is currently in critical condition after an industrial accident in Mississauga, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a business located on Matheson Boulevard East, near Dixie Road. Emergency crews were called to the scene around 2:30 p.m.
Peel Regional Police say the man, who is in his 40s, was working at the business when he became trapped in a piece of machinery. He was freed by co-workers and emergency responders, and was then transported to a trauma centre with serious injuries.
The Ministry of Labour has been notified and is investigating the incident. The business has also been ordered to stop all operations until further notice.
At this time, the identity of the victim has not been released and it is unclear what caused the accident.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
