A beer truck rollover caused major traffic disruptions on the 401 ramps on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on the eastbound on-ramp at North Augusta Road. The truck, which was carrying a load of beer, overturned and spilled its contents onto the roadway.
The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The 401 ramps were closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to clean up the scene and remove the truck. Traffic was diverted onto County Road 15 while the ramps were closed.
The OPP is reminding drivers to always exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings while on the road. They also urge drivers to follow posted speed limits and to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The ramps were reopened around 6 p.m. and traffic returned to normal. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and the potential consequences of reckless behavior on the road. Let us all do our part to ensure the safety of ourselves and others while on the road.
