Ottawa’s NFL, CFL, and NCAA players came together to pay it forward at the Gridiron Greats Showcase, showcasing their skills and giving back to the community.
The event, held at the TD Place Stadium, was organized by former CFL player and Ottawa native, Jeff Morris. Morris, who now works as a sports agent, wanted to create an opportunity for local players to showcase their talents and give back to the community that supported them.
The showcase featured a mix of current and former NFL, CFL, and NCAA players, including Ottawa Redblacks’ quarterback Dominique Davis and former Ottawa Gee-Gees standout, and current NFL player, Ettore Lattanzio.
The players participated in various drills and scrimmages, giving the audience a taste of their skills and athleticism. But the event was about more than just football. It was also about giving back to the community.
All proceeds from the event went towards the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, a non-profit organization that provides financial and medical assistance to retired NFL players in need. The organization also supports youth football programs and promotes player safety.
In addition to raising funds, the players also took the time to interact with the young athletes in attendance. They shared their experiences and offered advice, inspiring the next generation of football players.
Morris, who has been organizing the Gridiron Greats Showcase for the past five years, believes in the importance of giving back to the community and supporting fellow athletes.
“It’s important for us to come together and support each other, both on and off the field,” Morris said. “These players have a platform and a responsibility to give back, and I’m proud to see them doing just that.”
The event was a success, with a large turnout and positive feedback from both players and attendees. It not only showcased the talent of Ottawa’s football players but also highlighted the importance of giving back and supporting the community.
As the players continue to train and prepare for the upcoming season, they also continue to pay it forward, making a positive impact both on and off the field.
