Montreal Police Investigating Drive-By Shooting and Stabbing Near Shopping Centre

Montreal police are currently investigating a drive-by shooting and stabbing that occurred near a shopping centre on Tuesday evening.

According to authorities, the incident took place around 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Place Versailles shopping centre in the city’s east end. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing a vehicle fleeing the scene.

Upon arrival, police found two victims, a man and a woman, both in their 20s, suffering from gunshot and stab wounds. They were immediately transported to a nearby hospital and are currently in stable condition.

The motive behind the attack is still unknown, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. They are also reviewing surveillance footage from the shopping centre and surrounding areas to gather more evidence.

The shopping centre remained open during the investigation, but the parking lot where the incident occurred was closed off to the public.

This is not the first time that violence has erupted near the Place Versailles shopping centre. In 2019, a 19-year-old man was fatally shot in the same parking lot.

The incident has raised concerns about safety in the area, with some residents calling for increased police presence and security measures.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them or call Crime Stoppers anonymously.

As the community awaits more information, the Montreal police are assuring the public that they are taking this incident seriously and are committed to finding those responsible.
