Saskatoon Police Renew Calls for Help Solving Historic Homicide
The Saskatoon Police Service is once again reaching out to the public for assistance in solving a decades-old homicide case.
On April 15, 1990, the body of 23-year-old Shelley Napope was discovered in a wooded area near Wanuskewin Road. Napope had been reported missing by her family just two days prior.
Despite extensive investigations and numerous leads, the case remains unsolved. Now, over 30 years later, the Saskatoon Police are renewing their calls for help from the community.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Saskatoon Police Service emphasized the importance of solving this case for Napope’s family and loved ones. They also highlighted the potential for new information and advancements in technology to aid in the investigation.
“We believe that there are individuals in the community who have information about this case and we are asking them to come forward,” said Staff Sergeant Ryan Smith, who is leading the investigation.
The Saskatoon Police Service is urging anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to come forward and speak with investigators. They also assure the public that any information provided will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
“We understand that it may be difficult for some individuals to come forward after all these years, but we want to assure them that we are here to listen and to help bring closure to this case,” said Staff Sergeant Smith.
The police are also asking for the public’s help in sharing information about this case on social media, in hopes of reaching a wider audience and potentially uncovering new leads.
