A cruise ship worker has been arrested and accused of stabbing three people with scissors near Vancouver Island.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the incident occurred on Saturday evening on the Norwegian Bliss cruise ship, which was docked in the waters off Victoria, British Columbia.
The suspect, a 28-year-old man from the Philippines, allegedly attacked two of his colleagues and a female guest with a pair of scissors. The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The RCMP responded to the scene and took the suspect into custody. He has been charged with three counts of assault with a weapon and is currently being held in custody.
The motive for the attack is still under investigation, but authorities believe it may have been a workplace dispute.
The Norwegian Bliss is operated by Norwegian Cruise Line and was on a seven-day trip from Seattle to Alaska. The company released a statement expressing their concern for the victims and their families and stating that they are cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.
This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers that can occur on cruise ships, despite the strict safety protocols in place. The RCMP is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with their investigation.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, and the RCMP will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
