Hamilton police release video of shooting that injured bystander

Hamilton Police have released a video of a shooting that occurred on Saturday, injuring a bystander. The incident took place in the area of King Street East and Wellington Street North.

According to police, the video shows a group of individuals involved in a verbal altercation before one of them pulls out a firearm and begins shooting. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was not the intended target and was struck by a stray bullet.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. Police are still searching for the suspect, who fled the scene on foot.

In the video, the suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’10” with a medium build. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and a black baseball cap at the time of the shooting.

Hamilton Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation. They are also reminding the public that any information, no matter how small, could be crucial in identifying and apprehending the suspect.

This incident has raised concerns about gun violence in the city, with Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger calling for stricter gun control measures. He stated, “We need to do everything we can to get guns off the street and out of the hands of criminals.”
