A Toronto man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in the city’s east end.
According to police, the incident took place on March 27 at around 11:30 p.m. in the area of Danforth and Coxwell Avenues. Officers responded to reports of gunshots and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
After an investigation, 25-year-old John Smith was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He appeared in court on March 29.
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old David Brown. Police say the two men were known to each other and the shooting was not a random act.
This is not the first time Smith has been in trouble with the law. He has a previous criminal record, including charges of assault and possession of a weapon.
