Police are expressing concern that there may be additional victims after a suspect was charged in connection with a robbery and sexual assault.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on March 15 in the area of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old John Smith, allegedly approached a woman and demanded her belongings before sexually assaulting her.

Smith was arrested on March 18 and has been charged with robbery and sexual assault. He appeared in court on March 19 and has been remanded into custody.

However, police are now urging anyone who may have been a victim of a similar incident involving Smith to come forward.

“We are concerned that there may be other victims out there who have not yet come forward,” said Detective Jane Doe of the Toronto Police Service’s Sexual Assault Unit. “We want to ensure that anyone who may have been victimized by this individual receives the support and justice they deserve.”

Police are also reminding the public to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings, especially when walking alone at night.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Toronto Police Service’s Sexual Assault Unit at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
