Real True News

The annual Police Week came to a close with a successful meet and greet event, bringing together members of the community and local law enforcement.

The event, held at the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, provided an opportunity for residents to interact with officers and learn more about their work and responsibilities.

Attendees were able to tour the facility and see the various units and equipment used by the police, including the K-9 unit and the tactical response unit. They also had the chance to speak with officers and ask questions about their roles and duties.

Sergeant Jason Herder, who organized the event, emphasized the importance of building positive relationships between the police and the community. He stated, “We want to show the public that we are here to serve and protect them, and events like this help to bridge that gap and create a sense of trust and understanding.”

The meet and greet also featured a display of vintage police vehicles, showcasing the evolution of law enforcement over the years. Attendees were able to take photos with the vehicles and learn about their history.

In addition to the meet and greet, Police Week also included various educational and awareness events, such as a drug awareness presentation and a cyber safety workshop.

Chatham-Kent Police Chief Gary Conn stated, “Police Week is an important opportunity for us to engage with the community and showcase the work we do. It’s also a chance for us to thank the public for their support and cooperation in keeping our community safe.”

The event was well-received by the community, with many expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to get to know their local police officers and learn more about their work.

As Police Week comes to an end, the Chatham-Kent Police Service looks forward to continuing to strengthen their relationship with the community and working together to ensure a safe and secure environment for all.
