Truck engulfed in flames with owner on scene in Scarborough

A truck in Scarborough was engulfed in flames on Tuesday afternoon, with the owner present at the scene.

According to Toronto Fire Services, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Ellesmere Road, near Markham Road. The truck was reportedly carrying construction materials when it suddenly caught fire.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing thick black smoke and flames coming from the truck, which was parked on the side of the road. The owner of the truck, who has not been identified, was seen trying to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher before emergency services arrived.

Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby buildings or vehicles. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have been caused by a mechanical issue with the truck. The owner of the truck declined to comment on the incident.

The incident caused traffic delays in the area, as Ellesmere Road was temporarily closed between Markham Road and Bellamy Road. The road has since been reopened.
