Central Okanagan Search and Rescue Team Leader Battling Leukemia

The Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) team is known for their bravery and dedication in helping those in need. However, their leader, Duane Tresnich, is currently facing a different kind of battle – leukemia.

Tresnich has been a member of COSAR for over 20 years and has been leading the team for the past 10 years. He has been an integral part of numerous successful search and rescue missions, saving countless lives. But now, he is the one in need of help.

In May of this year, Tresnich was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. He immediately began treatment at the Kelowna General Hospital and has been undergoing chemotherapy since then.

Despite the physical and emotional toll of his illness, Tresnich remains positive and determined to fight. He has been receiving an outpouring of support from his fellow COSAR members, as well as the community. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with his medical expenses and has already raised over $50,000.

Tresnich’s dedication to his team and his community has not gone unnoticed. He has been described as a selfless leader who always puts others before himself. His colleagues at COSAR have nothing but admiration for him, with one member stating, “Duane is the heart and soul of our team. He has always been there for us, and now it’s our turn to be there for him.”

Tresnich’s battle with leukemia serves as a reminder of the sacrifices that search and rescue volunteers make every day. They risk their own lives to save others, and now it’s our turn to support them in their time of need.

The COSAR team is continuing their operations without their leader, but they are eagerly awaiting Tresnich’s return. In the meantime, they are asking for the community’s support and well wishes for their beloved leader.

Tresnich’s strength and determination in the face of adversity is an inspiration to us all. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back with his team, saving lives once again.
