Toronto Man Arrested on Human Trafficking Charges

In May 2024, the Niagara Regional Police Service’s Human Trafficking Unit commenced an investigation into the trafficking of a female over the age of 18 throughout the Niagara Region and Southern Ontario. 

As a result of the investigation, a male suspect was identified. 

On Wednesday, June 5th, 2024 with the assistance of 2 District Uniform Officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service and members of the GTA-East Provincial ROPE (Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement), the suspect was located and arrested in the City of Toronto.

Dillan SHAND (32 years old) of Toronto is facing the following charges: 

Trafficking in Persons Procuring Material Benefit from Trafficking in Persons Material Benefit from Sexual Services Assault Uttering Threats

SHAND is being held in custody pending a bail hearing, which is expected to take place June 6th, 2024, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives suspect there may be more victims. Anyone who may have more information is asked to contact detectives by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009544.
