Toronto’s Eaton Centre will soon see some major changes as three new retailers are set to take over the space previously occupied by Nordstrom. The popular department store closed its doors in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving a large vacancy in the mall.
According to Cadillac Fairview, the company that owns Eaton Centre, the new retailers moving in are Simons, Eataly, and Nike. Simons, a Quebec-based fashion retailer, will take over the majority of the space, occupying four floors and approximately 170,000 square feet. This will be the company’s first location in Toronto, adding to their current 15 stores across Canada.
Eataly, an Italian marketplace and restaurant, will also be making its debut in Toronto with a 50,000 square foot location on the ground floor of the former Nordstrom space. The company is known for its high-quality Italian products and dining experiences, and this will be their third location in Canada.
Finally, Nike will be opening a new flagship store on the second floor of the space, spanning over 50,000 square feet. The store will feature the brand’s latest products and technologies, as well as interactive experiences for customers.
The addition of these three retailers is expected to bring new energy and excitement to Eaton Centre, which has been impacted by the pandemic and the closure of Nordstrom. The new stores are also expected to create hundreds of jobs for the local community.
In a statement, Cadillac Fairview expressed their enthusiasm for the new retailers, stating that they are “thrilled to welcome Simons, Eataly, and Nike to Eaton Centre.” They also mentioned that these additions align with their vision of creating a diverse and dynamic shopping experience for their customers.
The exact opening dates for the new stores have not been announced yet, but construction is already underway. With the addition of these popular and highly anticipated retailers, Eaton Centre is sure to remain a top destination for shopping and dining in Toronto.
