Residents of the Bowness community in Calgary were left without water for several hours on Tuesday, April 27th, after a water main break disrupted the area. The incident, which occurred on Bowness Road and 33rd Avenue, caused significant inconvenience for residents and businesses in the area.
Thankfully, a local charity stepped in to provide much-needed relief to the affected residents. The Calgary Dream Centre, a non-profit organization that provides support and resources to those in need, distributed bottled water to the community.
According to the Calgary Dream Centre’s CEO, John Rook, the organization was happy to assist in any way they could. “We know how important access to clean water is, especially during a pandemic,” Rook stated. “We wanted to do our part in helping the Bowness community during this difficult time.”
The water main break was reported around 9:30 am on Tuesday, and city crews worked tirelessly to repair the damage. By 2:30 pm, the water supply was restored to the affected area, but the Calgary Dream Centre continued to distribute water until 5:00 pm to ensure that everyone had access to clean drinking water.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of having access to clean water, especially during a global health crisis. The Calgary Dream Centre’s quick response and generosity in providing bottled water to the community is a testament to the organization’s commitment to helping those in need.
The cause of the water main break is still under investigation, and the City of Calgary has assured residents that they will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed. In the meantime, the Calgary Dream Centre’s efforts have helped alleviate some of the inconvenience and stress caused by the disruption of water supply in the Bowness community.
As the community recovers from this incident, it is heartening to see the support and generosity of organizations like the Calgary Dream Centre. Their actions serve as a reminder that in times of need, we can all come together to help one another.
