A fire broke out in the north end of the city last night, but thankfully, no one was injured.
According to the police, the fire started around 9 PM in a residential building on Main Street. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have originated in the kitchen of one of the units.
The fire department was quick to respond and was able to contain the flames before they could spread to neighboring buildings. Residents were evacuated as a precaution, but were able to return to their homes once the fire was under control.
No injuries were reported, and all residents were accounted for. However, the building sustained significant damage and is currently uninhabitable. The Red Cross has been contacted to assist those affected by the fire.
The police are reminding the public to always exercise caution when cooking and to have working smoke detectors in their homes. They also urge anyone with information about the fire to come forward and contact the authorities.
We will continue to provide updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.
