The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the QEW at Hurontario Street. The dump truck was reportedly carrying a raised bed, which struck the overpass causing significant damage.

The OPP arrived at the scene and closed the eastbound lanes of the QEW at Hurontario Street for several hours while crews worked to clear the debris and assess the damage to the overpass.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, the closure caused significant traffic delays for commuters in the area.

The OPP is reminding drivers to always be aware of the height of their vehicles and to follow all posted signs and warnings to avoid similar incidents in the future.

The eastbound lanes of the QEW were reopened around 1 p.m. after the debris was cleared and the overpass was deemed safe for travel.

The Ministry of Transportation has been notified of the damage to the overpass and will be conducting a thorough inspection to ensure its structural integrity.

This incident serves as a reminder for all drivers to exercise caution and be mindful of their surroundings while on the road.
