After months of careful analysis and consideration, the Chatham-Kent Fire Department has released its highly anticipated Fire Master Plan. The plan, which outlines the department’s strategies and recommendations for the next five years, includes a proposal for the relocation of one of its stations and the integration of services.
According to the Fire Master Plan, Station 2, currently located on Park Avenue East, is recommended to be relocated to the intersection of Park Avenue West and Richmond Street. This new location would provide better coverage for the surrounding area and improve response times for emergency calls.
In addition to the relocation, the Fire Master Plan also suggests the integration of services between the Chatham-Kent Fire Department and the Chatham-Kent EMS. This would involve the co-location of EMS and fire services at certain stations, allowing for a more efficient and coordinated response to emergencies.
The Fire Master Plan was developed with input from various stakeholders, including community members, firefighters, and municipal staff. It also took into consideration the department’s current resources and future needs.
Fire Chief Chris Case expressed his confidence in the proposed changes, stating that they will ultimately lead to a more effective and sustainable fire service for the community. He also emphasized the importance of public safety and the department’s commitment to providing the best possible emergency response.
The Fire Master Plan will now be presented to the Chatham-Kent Council for approval. If approved, the relocation and integration of services will be implemented over the next five years.
This comprehensive plan reflects the Chatham-Kent Fire Department’s dedication to continuously improving and adapting to the needs of the community. With the proposed changes, the department aims to enhance its emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
