Kelowna, BC – The community of Kelowna has once again shown its generosity and support for a great cause. The annual Cycle for Strong Kids event, organized by the YMCA of Okanagan, has raised a record-breaking amount of funds this year.
On Sunday, September 12th, over 200 cyclists took to the streets of Kelowna to participate in the 10th annual Cycle for Strong Kids event. The event, which aims to raise funds for the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign, saw participants of all ages and skill levels come together to support children and families in need.
Thanks to the dedication and hard work of the participants, as well as the support of the community, a total of $85,000 was raised during this year’s event. This is a significant increase from last year’s total of $70,000.
The funds raised will go towards providing financial assistance to families in need, allowing them to access YMCA programs and services that promote healthy living, personal growth, and community involvement. These programs include swim lessons, summer camps, and after-school programs, among others.
According to the YMCA of Okanagan CEO, Sharon Peterson, the success of this year’s Cycle for Strong Kids event is a testament to the community’s commitment to helping those in need. She expressed her gratitude to all the participants, volunteers, and sponsors who made the event possible.
The YMCA of Okanagan has been serving the community for over 40 years, and the Strong Kids Campaign has been a vital part of their mission to ensure that everyone has access to the resources and support they need to reach their full potential.
The success of this year’s Cycle for Strong Kids event is a reminder of the power of community and the impact that can be made when we come together for a common cause. The YMCA of Okanagan is grateful for the continued support and looks forward to making a positive difference in the lives of children and families in need.
