Toronto Police have charged a suspect in an alleged child luring incident that occurred in the city’s east end.
According to authorities, the incident took place on April 5th, when a 12-year-old girl was approached by a man in a vehicle near the intersection of Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East.
The man allegedly attempted to lure the girl into his vehicle, but she was able to run away and notify her parents, who then contacted the police.
After an investigation, 33-year-old John Smith was arrested and charged with child luring and attempted abduction of a person under 14 years old.
Smith appeared in court on Tuesday and has been remanded into custody.
Police are urging anyone with information or who may have had a similar encounter with Smith to come forward.
They are also reminding parents to speak to their children about personal safety and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
