Penticton, B.C. – The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are currently investigating a targeted shooting that took place in Penticton, British Columbia.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday evening at around 7:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Winnipeg Street. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a man fleeing the scene on foot.
Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown.
The RCMP has not released any information about the victim or potential suspects at this time. However, they have confirmed that the shooting was targeted and not a random act of violence.
The area where the shooting took place has been cordoned off as investigators gather evidence and speak to witnesses. The RCMP is asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact them.
This is not the first time Penticton has experienced a targeted shooting. In April 2019, four people were killed in a shooting at a local apartment complex. The suspect, who was known to the victims, was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
