A man has been arrested by Surrey RCMP after allegedly fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle.
According to authorities, the incident began when officers attempted to pull over a vehicle in the area of 128th Street and 96th Avenue on Tuesday evening. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 27-year-old John Smith, refused to stop and instead sped away from police.
A pursuit ensued, with Smith allegedly driving recklessly and dangerously through the streets of Surrey. Police were eventually able to stop the vehicle and take Smith into custody without incident.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle Smith was driving had been reported stolen earlier that day. He now faces charges of possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and flight from police.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the pursuit. However, the incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of fleeing from law enforcement.
