Man charged after allegedly luring 12-year-old child

A man has been charged after allegedly luring a 12-year-old child, according to police.

The incident occurred on Monday, May 3, when the child was walking in the area of Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West in Toronto. The man, who has been identified as 32-year-old John Smith, allegedly approached the child and engaged them in conversation.

During the conversation, Smith allegedly convinced the child to go with him to a nearby park. The child, who was not harmed, was able to leave the park and return home safely.

Police were notified of the incident and launched an investigation. Smith was arrested on Wednesday, May 5 and charged with luring a child under the age of 16.
