A commercial building in the Leaside neighborhood of Toronto has been hit by a second fire, causing damage but thankfully no injuries.
The fire broke out on Monday evening at the building located on Laird Drive, near Eglinton Avenue East. Firefighters were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. and were able to quickly contain the blaze.
According to Toronto Fire Services, the fire started in the basement of the building and spread to the first and second floors. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
This is the second fire to occur at this location in less than a month. On April 12, a three-alarm fire broke out at the same building, causing significant damage. It took firefighters several hours to extinguish the flames.
Fortunately, no one was injured in either fire. However, the building has sustained significant damage and will require repairs before it can be used again.
The building is home to several businesses, including a restaurant and a hair salon. It is not yet known how long these businesses will be closed due to the damage caused by the fires.
The Toronto Fire Services has reminded the public to always have working smoke alarms in their homes and businesses, as they can save lives in the event of a fire.
As the investigation into the cause of the fire continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. They can contact Toronto Fire Services or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
The safety of our community is of utmost importance, and we will continue to provide updates on this developing story.
