A Langley, British Columbia man has issued a statement through his lawyer, expressing remorse for the murder of his wife.
The lawyer read the statement on behalf of the man, who cannot be named due to a publication ban.
“I am really, really sorry for what I have done,” the statement read. “I know that my actions have caused immense pain and suffering to my wife’s family and friends, and for that, I am truly sorry.”
The man went on to express his regret for the loss of his wife, stating that he will carry the weight of his actions for the rest of his life.
“I cannot begin to imagine the pain and grief that my wife’s loved ones are going through,” the statement continued. “I am filled with deep regret and sorrow for taking her life and robbing her of the future she deserved.”
The man’s lawyer also stated that his client has been cooperating with authorities and will continue to do so throughout the legal process.
The murder of the man’s wife occurred on May 2, 2021, and he was arrested and charged with second-degree murder shortly after.
The statement concluded with the man expressing his hope for forgiveness and healing for all those affected by his actions.
“I know that my words cannot undo the harm I have caused, but I hope that one day, my wife’s family and friends can find it in their hearts to forgive me,” the statement read. “I will carry the weight of my actions for the rest of my life and I am truly sorry for the pain and suffering I have caused.”
