A man from Nanaimo has been charged in connection with a sexual assault investigation by the Airdrie RCMP involving a youth.
According to the Airdrie RCMP, the investigation began in March 2021 after a report was made regarding a sexual assault of a youth. The incident is alleged to have occurred in Airdrie, Alberta.
After a thorough investigation, 25-year-old Brandon James Rasmussen of Nanaimo, British Columbia, was arrested and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. He has since been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on June 17, 2021.
The Airdrie RCMP is reminding the public that sexual assault is a serious crime and that they take all reports of sexual assault seriously. They are also encouraging anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to come forward and report it to the police.
