British Columbia’s very own Michael J. Fox made a surprise appearance at the Glastonbury Festival in England, joining the popular band Coldplay on stage. The Canadian actor, known for his iconic roles in “Back to the Future” and “Family Ties”, joined the band during their headlining set on Saturday night.

Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, has been a longtime fan of Coldplay and their music. He was invited to join the band on stage to play guitar and sing along to their hit song “Earth Angel”, a nod to his role as Marty McFly in the “Back to the Future” films.

The crowd at the festival was ecstatic to see Fox on stage, with many taking to social media to share their excitement and admiration for the actor. Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, also expressed his gratitude for Fox’s appearance, stating that it was an honor to have him on stage with them.

This is not the first time Fox has made a surprise appearance at a music festival. In 2018, he joined Dave Matthews Band on stage at the New York City’s Beacon Theatre, playing guitar and singing along to their song “All Along the Watchtower”.

Fox’s appearance at Glastonbury was not only a treat for the festival-goers, but also a reminder of his resilience and determination in the face of his Parkinson’s diagnosis. He continues to inspire and entertain audiences around the world, proving that nothing can stop him from pursuing his passions.

The Glastonbury Festival, known for its diverse lineup and iconic performances, has been taking place since 1970 and has become one of the most popular music festivals in the world. This year’s event, which was held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, featured performances from artists such as HAIM, Damon Albarn, and Kano.

In addition to Fox’s surprise appearance, Coldplay’s set also included a tribute to the late British physicist Stephen Hawking, who had previously collaborated with the band on their song “Talk”. The festival also paid tribute to other influential figures who have passed away, including David Bowie and Prince.

As the Glastonbury Festival comes to a close, Fox’s unexpected appearance will surely be remembered as one of the highlights of this year’s event. It was a moment that brought together music and film, and reminded us of the power of perseverance and the universal language of art.
