Tens of thousands turn out for Canada Day celebration in Kelowna

Kelowna, BC – On July 1st, tens of thousands of people gathered in Kelowna to celebrate Canada Day. The city was filled with excitement and patriotism as locals and visitors alike came together to commemorate the country’s 154th birthday.

The festivities began early in the morning with a parade through the downtown core. Spectators lined the streets, waving Canadian flags and cheering as floats, bands, and community groups passed by. The parade was a true representation of the diversity and unity of Canada, with participants from various cultural backgrounds and age groups.

Following the parade, the celebrations continued at Waterfront Park, where a variety of activities and entertainment were available for all ages. Families enjoyed face painting, bouncy castles, and live music, while food trucks offered a taste of Canadian cuisine. Local vendors also set up booths, showcasing their handmade goods and crafts.

One of the highlights of the day was the citizenship ceremony, where 50 new Canadians took their oath of citizenship. It was a touching moment as they proudly received their citizenship certificates and joined their fellow Canadians in celebrating the country they now call home.

As the sun began to set, the crowd gathered at the main stage for the evening concert. Canadian artists, including Juno award-winning band Walk Off the Earth, entertained the audience with their energetic performances. The night ended with a spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the sky and bringing the day’s festivities to a close.

The Canada Day celebration in Kelowna was a true testament to the strong sense of community and national pride in the city. It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and a shared love for this beautiful country we call home.
