Calgary Stampede rodeo medical clinic treats a parade of aches and pains

The Calgary Stampede Rodeo Medical Clinic has been a busy hub of activity, treating a variety of injuries and ailments during the annual event. From minor aches and pains to more serious injuries, the clinic has seen it all.

Located on the Stampede grounds, the clinic is staffed by a team of medical professionals who are ready to assist anyone in need. According to Dr. Sarah Jones, the clinic’s medical director, the most common injuries seen at the clinic are sprains, strains, and bruises.

“We see a lot of injuries related to the rodeo events, such as bull riding and barrel racing,” says Dr. Jones. “But we also see injuries from the midway rides and other activities on the grounds.”

In addition to treating injuries, the clinic also provides medical services for those who may have pre-existing conditions or require medication during the Stampede. The clinic is equipped with a pharmacy and can provide prescriptions for visitors who may have forgotten their medication at home.

The clinic also offers a quiet and comfortable space for visitors who may need a break from the hustle and bustle of the Stampede. “We have a quiet room where people can come and rest if they’re feeling overwhelmed or need a break from the crowds,” says Dr. Jones.

The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to midnight every day during the Stampede and is staffed by a team of over 100 volunteers, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics. The volunteers come from various medical backgrounds and are dedicated to providing top-notch care to Stampede visitors.

“We are grateful for the support of our volunteers who make it possible for us to provide medical services during the Stampede,” says Dr. Jones. “Their dedication and expertise are crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of all Stampede attendees.”

The Calgary Stampede Rodeo Medical Clinic is just one of the many services available to visitors during the annual event. With its dedicated team of medical professionals and comprehensive services, the clinic is a valuable resource for anyone in need of medical assistance at the Stampede.
