Toronto-bound QEW closed in Beamsville after pedestrian struck
A section of the Toronto-bound Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) in Beamsville was closed on Monday evening after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the Ontario Street exit.
The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
As a result of the collision, the Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW were closed at Ontario Street for several hours. The lanes have since reopened.
Police are reminding drivers to be cautious and aware of their surroundings, especially during the evening hours when visibility may be reduced.
