More than 44,000 Hatch baby sound machine power adapters recalled in Canada

A recall has been issued for over 44,000 baby sound machine power adapters in Canada due to potential safety hazards.

The recall, announced by Health Canada on Tuesday, affects the Hatch Baby Rest and Rest+ sound machines. These devices are used to play white noise or lullabies to help soothe babies to sleep.

According to Health Canada, the power adapters included with these sound machines may break, exposing the metal prongs and posing a risk of electric shock. The affected adapters were sold between October 2019 and February 2021.

The recall notice advises consumers to immediately stop using the affected power adapters and contact Hatch Baby for a free replacement. In the meantime, the sound machines can still be used with batteries.

This recall comes after Hatch Baby received 12 reports of the power adapters breaking, with no reported injuries. The company has also issued a recall in the United States for the same issue.

Health Canada is reminding parents and caregivers to always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using any baby products and to regularly check for any recalls or safety concerns.

Consumers can contact Hatch Baby toll-free at 1-844-348-2229 or by email at support@hatchbaby.com for more information on the recall and how to obtain a replacement power adapter.

The safety of our children is of utmost importance, and it is crucial for companies to promptly address any potential hazards. We urge all consumers to take this recall seriously and to take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of their little ones.
