Seven individuals have been arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in connection with a child exploitation investigation, according to a recent report.
The arrests were made as part of a joint operation between the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) and the Manitoba Integrated Child Exploitation (ICE) unit.
The investigation, which began in January 2021, focused on the online sexual exploitation of children. It involved the use of various investigative techniques, including the execution of search warrants and the analysis of digital evidence.
As a result of the operation, seven individuals were arrested and charged with various offences, including making, possessing, and distributing child pornography. The accused range in age from 19 to 54 and are from various communities in Manitoba.
The RCMP has stated that the investigation is ongoing and that more charges may be laid as it progresses.
The NCECC and the Manitoba ICE unit are dedicated to protecting children from online sexual exploitation and work tirelessly to identify and apprehend those who engage in these heinous crimes.
The RCMP is reminding the public to be vigilant when it comes to their children’s online activities and to report any suspicious behaviour to the authorities.
Anyone with information about this investigation or any other online child exploitation is urged to contact the NCECC at 1-866-658-9022 or their local police department.
The RCMP is committed to keeping our communities safe and will continue to work diligently to combat child exploitation in all its forms.
