A tragic car accident in Southeastern British Columbia has claimed the lives of three individuals, according to police reports.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening on Highway 3 near the town of Jaffray. The vehicle, carrying four occupants, lost control and collided with a tree.

Authorities have stated that speed and intoxication were contributing factors to the crash. The driver, who survived the accident, has been arrested and is facing charges of impaired driving causing death.

The identities of the victims have not been released, pending notification of their families. The driver, who sustained serious injuries, is currently in stable condition at a nearby hospital.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are urging drivers to exercise caution and responsibility while on the road. “This is a tragic reminder of the consequences of reckless and impaired driving,” said Cpl. Mike Halskov of the RCMP’s Southeast District.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the RCMP. The highway was closed for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time. We also urge everyone to prioritize safety and responsibility while behind the wheel to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
