A major drug bust in Calgary has resulted in the seizure of over $300,000 worth of drugs and six guns. The investigation, which was conducted by the Calgary Police Service, was launched after receiving a tip from the public.
According to police, the investigation began on May 25th when they received information about a possible drug operation in the city’s northeast. After conducting surveillance and gathering evidence, officers executed search warrants on two homes in the communities of Taradale and Martindale.
During the search, police found a large quantity of drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, with an estimated street value of over $300,000. They also seized six firearms, including a loaded handgun, a sawed-off shotgun, and four rifles.
In addition to the drugs and weapons, police also found over $20,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking. Four people were arrested and are facing a total of 50 charges, including drug trafficking, possession of stolen property, and firearms-related offences.
“This is a significant seizure that will have a major impact on the drug trade in our city,” said Staff Sergeant Kyle Grant of the Calgary Police Service’s Strategic Enforcement Unit. “We are committed to targeting those who profit from the sale of illegal drugs and putting them behind bars.”
The Calgary Police Service is reminding the public that they play a crucial role in helping to keep their communities safe. “We rely on tips from the public to help us identify and investigate criminal activity,” said Staff Sergeant Grant. “We encourage anyone with information about drug activity in their neighbourhood to contact us.”
The four individuals arrested in connection with this investigation are scheduled to appear in court on June 10th. The Calgary Police Service is continuing to investigate and is asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
