Three individuals are currently in critical condition after a serious collision in Whitby, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The incident occurred on Sunday evening at the intersection of Taunton Road and Cochrane Street. The OPP were called to the scene at around 7:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found that a vehicle had collided with a pole. The three occupants of the vehicle were all seriously injured and were immediately transported to a nearby hospital.
According to the OPP, all three individuals are currently in life-threatening condition.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. However, the OPP have confirmed that weather and road conditions were not factors in the collision.
The intersection of Taunton Road and Cochrane Street was closed for several hours as the OPP conducted their investigation. It has since been reopened to traffic.
The identities of the individuals involved in the crash have not been released at this time.
