Saskatchewan RCMP have reported that three individuals were caught impersonating police officers in Onion Lake.
According to the RCMP, the incident occurred on the evening of June 6th, when a resident of Onion Lake reported a suspicious vehicle with flashing lights and individuals dressed in what appeared to be police uniforms.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the three individuals were not actual police officers, but rather civilians attempting to impersonate law enforcement.
The RCMP have stated that this type of behavior is not only illegal, but also puts the safety of the public at risk. They urge individuals to always verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a police officer by asking for proper identification.
In addition, the RCMP have reminded the public that police officers will never ask for personal information or money over the phone or in person. If anyone encounters a suspicious situation, they are encouraged to contact their local police immediately.
The three individuals involved in this incident have been charged with impersonating a police officer and are scheduled to appear in court on August 10th.
The RCMP would like to thank the resident who reported the suspicious activity, as well as the public for their cooperation and vigilance in keeping their community safe.
This incident serves as a reminder for everyone to be cautious and aware of their surroundings, and to always verify the identity of individuals claiming to be police officers.
